Rich is one of my favorite bassists on the planet. He’s also an A+ human being.
Toronto based and global in perspective, Rich has a singular sound as well as a vocabulary and approach to the instrument that is as refreshingly new as it is thought provoking. Personally, I’ve never heard Rich play and not been affected by it.
I was first turned onto Rich by a friend who was showing me this ridiculously crushing new band called, “Dapp Theory”. I was hooked and as incredible as that band was on every front, it was the rhythm section that kept me up at night. Rich and drummer, Sean Rickman, were a force of nature when paired together.
There are a multitude of artists Rich has worked with (and as many genres spanned).
Here are a few links and videos to get you going down one rabbit-hole or the other:

Dapp Theory: Andy Milne - piano; Gregoire Maret - harmonica; Carl Walker - vocals - Rich Brown - bass; Sean Rickman - drums.
I always found these changes to be haunting…
A playful solo piece of Rich’s that always reminded me of an Mbira.
This is one of my favorite bass solos of all time. So much so that I transcribed it for one of my books. (The notated bass solo starts at ~4:30)
