James is one of those players that is incredibly well known by some but completely unrecognizeable to others. He may be best known as the house bassist for Saturday Night Live for over 20 years but he was well recognized and utilized in the NY jazz scene long before then, having toured and recorded with the Brecker Brothers, Lee Konitz, Gary Burton, Uri Caine, Herbie Hancock and many others. One of those rare players who is equally at home on electric or upright, James is definitely one to know!
