While I’ve never met Travis, I’ve long been a fan of his playing (we do have some mutual friends and I hear that he’s just an awesome hang and a very kind dude…. and a phenomenal player!).
Son of guitarist Larry Carlton, Travis certainly grew up surrounded by music and began his studies on guitar before falling in love with the bass at age 13. He has long toured with his father as well as being ‘one of the guys’ in the LA session scene.
He’s also played quite a bit with Robben Ford, Michael Landau, Scott Henderson and many others.
What I love about Travis’ playing is that he’s truly a team player. He holds it down like only a pro can amd when given ‘the nod’, always leaves me impressed with his melodicism and patient, tasteful approach to soloing on the instrument. He’s just my favorite kind of player.
I’m a fan & I hope you will be, too. There’s a ton more around YouTube… if you dig, feel free to dive deep!
